Joan Jenkinson is a Co-Founder and the Executive Director of the Black Screen Office. She is an accomplished television executive and an outspoken advocate for Black Canadians working in the screen industries. Under her leadership the BSO has been named the 2022 Changemaker Organization of the Year by Playback, Canada’s leading screen industry magazine. Also in 2022, Joan received the Media Award at the Afroglobal Excellence Awards.

Joan is a founding Partner/Producer at Artemis Pictures which is focused on developing and producing scripted content for television. She was Vice-President of Independent Production for VisionTV where she commissioned hundreds of hours of content. Joan began her career in the screen industries as the Executive Director of Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T).
