Born in London, Nicolas graduated from New College, University of Oxford with a degree in English Literature and Russian. As part of his university course, he spent a year in Russia where he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked for several months at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre and St. Petersburg's May Drama Theatre. Upon graduation he moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and has worked in the film industry since then, initially as an actor before transitioning into producing.
Nicolas was the former Head of Development and Production for LAMF (Los Angeles Media Fund), a production and financing company where he oversaw numerous independent and studio films with budgets ranging from $5M-35M. Nicolas left LAMF to start developing his own film and TV projects, establishing close relationships with many of the major entertainment and media companies.
From 2017 he began consulting for HanWay Films, one of the longest standing and perhaps best known International Sales Agencies in the Industry. During Nicolas' tenure with HanWay, the company handled dozens of acclaimed films including Ralph Fiennes’ The White Crow, Wash Westmoreland’s Colette, Viggo Mortensen’s Falling, Ron Howard’s Pavarottiand Paul Schrader's The Card Counter.
At the start of 2020, Nicolas also established his own company, Fairvale Entertainment, a director-driven production company with a focus on prestige genre content.
